The label on the back identifies the painting as "Long Barn, Spencer, MA" and describes the frame as a 19th-century gold leaf frame. The artwork has not been removed from the frame to verify the medium or frame age.

Shows signs of age and use, including scratches, discoloration, missing and worn gold-tone finish, small nicks, and dirtiness on the frame. There are irregular streaks, rippling, and bubble-like areas visible beneath the glass in multiple locations. Their exact cause and whether they affect the artwork have not been determined. The backing shows some discoloration and wear.
