Player Notes: CJ Abrams is 25 years old… he is still getting better. It’s kind of hard to imagine, because he has already launched himself into the top 25 players in baseball…He was drafted 6th overall out of high school in the 2019 MLB Draft…. He rose through the minors relying largely on his speed… but as he got older, surprise surprise, he started filling out his frame, and power showed up… he’s now 6’0” 191 lbs with an elite power/ speed combination. In 2024, he had a terrific 3.4 WAR season and his first 20/20 season with 20 HR and 31 Stolen Bases. He also made the All Star team for the first time. Does he make a few bonehead plays each season, yes… Does he strikeout too much, yes… but remember, he is still only 25. 2025 was another step forward. He hit 19 Home runs and stole 31 bases, while delivering a personal best 111 OPS+. He delivered another 3.3 WAR as well as finishing in the top 10 in the National League in doubles, triples and stolen bases. So has he peaked ? Ha ! In 2026 he was one of the best players in all of baseball, delivering 5.1 WAR, 33 home runs and 34 stolen bases. Oh my goodness… if it weren’t for PCA and Shohei, we might be looking at the league MVP. regardless though he is one of the elite players in MLB.
