DESCRIPTION: Vintage photograph from Lorain Ohio, circa 1940s, shows Kenny Welch, Jr.
This photograph is from the collection of Bertha K. Welch of Lorain, Ohio. Mrs. Welch resided with her husband Oliver at 1772 E 33 St. in Lorain, a house which still stands today. She was the daughter of Simon and Grace Kopas who resided at 219 E 33 St in Lorain, another house which still stands today. Bertha had at least two siblings, brother Andy, and sister Grace Polesko. We believe that the military photographs in this collection belonged to Andy but cannot be sure since they are not marked with any names.
Bertha and Oliver had three children: Kenneth Newton, Howard Simon, and Audrey Grace Welch. Audrey was born with what appears to be achondroplasia dwarfism, and she is in many of the photographs. The three children appear to have been born in the 30s to the early 1940s.
Audrey was married to a George Green in the early 1960s. Mr. Green also had dwarfism and there are many photographs of their family in this collection. It is presumed that they also lived in Lorain but we have no address. Audrey and George had a little girl named Dawn Eve Green, who also had dwarfism.
