Description: A fine abstract oil on artist's canvas signed "P. Marshall" and dating circa 1960s - approx 30 x 18 inches (76 x 45 cm). Like the pair to this work this is again a fine Retro period Abstract in oil on canvas and it is proper 1960 retro - cutting edge work - painted at the beginning of the swinging sixties - a decade that was to bring in a revolution of openess and creativity this was even then perhaps some years ahead of its time. This painting however, with its palette of dense landscape colours, the blues of water, of sky and cloud, and the violet purples of distant hills, and the greens of trees or vegetation, remains fully abstract. Wild heavy brushstrokes appear to have been applied to the canvas in an uncomposed, uncompromised, blur of expression. Perhaps a storm, perhaps a turmoil of seething waves, we are left with a sense of movement, swirling, energetic, uncontrived and natural.
