Description: An excellent figural landscape watercolour on artist's paper, signed "Fred J. Knowles" and dating circa 1900. Framed - approx 14 x 12 inches. This is an excellent English School watercolour dating from the Victorian period; a figural landscape depicting a classic English School study featuring two young cattle, walking through the summer meadows with trees and grasses in full summer foliage, rising hills beyond in silhouette, beneath a blue clouded sky. A classic study from this well known artist, cattle being one of his preferred subjects. A charming original antique watercolour. The work is signed "Fred J. Knowles" lower left for "Frederick J. Knowles".

Framing: Later plain moulded Pine. Finish: Gilt. The watercolour is mounted on board and has a cream mount.

Date: circa 1900

Condition: The watercolour is in very good condition for its age, retaining good rich hues. There are a few bugs beneath the mount and glass which would benefir from cleaning.
