ORIGINAL IBANEZ 1976 2670 ARTWOOD AUTOGRAPH DOUBLENECK 6/12 GUITAR W/CASE

A rare original 1976 Ibanez 2670 Artwood Autograph Twin Doubleneck Electric Guitar in Natural Ash Finish

Very few of these beauties were made in 1976...most of the 100 or less 2670 hand built guitars were made in the years 1978-1980. This instrument is the original top of the revered Ibanez Artist line of the late 1970's. This original 2670 doubleneck guitar was modeled after a custom doubleneck guitar made by Rex Bogue for John McLaughlin. Some of the famous Ibanez 2670 players of the time were Gerry Beckley of America (prototype), Denny Laine of Wings and Marlo Henderson (Minnie Ripperton), among others.

The Ibanez Professional Series Artwood Twin is such an iconic Ibanez guitar that the Ibanez Collector's World website uses it in their logo. To Ibanez collectors, the 2670 epitomizes the guitars of what they term "Ibanez's Golden Age", that is the copy and original design guitars made by Ibanez from the mid 1970s until about 1982.

Please note the top picture, showing the features of the Ibanez 2670RE guitar, is just shown here to show the controls and features of the Ibanez Artwood Autograph guitar. Since the 2670RE Re-Issue is virtually an exact copy of the original 1975-1977 Artwood Autographs (with this one being a 1976), all the features are the same, with the exception of the pickups, which were the Super 70 pickups on the original 1976 instrument.
The ash body features incredible detailing, with a pair of set-in 3-piece maple necks. Each ebony fretboard is garnished with the vintage "vine" design inlays. The gold-tone hardware and Gotoh tuners are all a dream for the past come true. Includes the original Super 70 pickups, bone nuts, W1500 tailpieces, large classic control knobs, and engraved pickup covers. Includes the original plush hard-shell case.

Check out all the pictures, this is a great guitar! I'm selling only because I got Gerry Buckley's prototype Ibanez 2640 doubleneck guitar, so don't need 2! Heavy duty hardshell Case.

If you are looking at this listing, you probably already know that this is a very special guitar. Ibanez made few of these in the 70's, and certainly in 1976, so the collectibility and rarity of this model is without question. The body was crafted from a gorgeous piece of solid ash. The pictures speak 1000 words regarding the level of detail and craftsmanship of this guitar. This instrument has been case-kept and very seldom played. It is in very good to excellent collectible condition.

Background information:
There were two slightly different versions of the Ibanez Professional Series 2670 Artwood Twin: one from 1975 thru 1977 and one from about 1978 thru 1980.

The first featured the old Ibanez "spaghetti" logo on the headstock, another spaghetti logo on the pickup covers, and metal tuning machine key grips.

The second version featured the contemporary Ibanez "block" logo on the headstock, the Ibanez Flying Finger design (a hand with butterfly wings with extended forefinger) on the pickup covers and ornate pearloid keys.

Very good condition in manufacturer's hardshell case.
